Showing At The Rilla Gallery

Janice Paine-Dawes is an award winning fiber artist currently working in a watercolor technique on 100% silk. Designated one of America's top Craftsmen in a national competition, she has won numerous awards in juried shows. Before relocating to Sarasota, she was a State of Illinois Artisan exhibiting in the state sponsored galleries in Chicago, Springfield and Rend Lake. She has works in private collections both in the United States and Europe and a commissioned reproduction work in a museum outside Boston.
An artistic beginning in 2-D had a natural progression to hand-dyeing fabric designs when needed colors and textures for a fiber work in progress were not commercially available. The unique results of dye combinations applied to a blank fabric has distinctively surprising results. On-going experimentation with silks and dyes has culminated in the original design watercolor silk hand-quilted and beaded evening bags and scarves/evening wraps being shown at Rilla Gallery.
